StyleQuery: Dressing for 3 Different Types of Holiday Outings, Pt. 1
I recently had a "friend" ask me for help picking outfits for 3 different holiday outings..including a movie premier. This friend, we'll call them DV, was stuck in a style rut. To help out, I put together some outfits for DV to try at each event - an office holiday party, New Year's Eve out with friends, and a winter-time movie premier. If you need ideas for some curve-friendly, holiday outfits for the end of the year, keep reading!
LOOK 1: AFTER WORK/POST-DOMINATION OFFICE PARTY
DV likes to keep things, well...black. To ease them into something different we stayed with the color palette of choice. Instead of the typical suit-of-armor for work, we decided to switch things up for the office holiday party.

Bow Shoes - Charlotte Russe (similar here)
Chambray Shirt - Old Navy (similar here)
Wrap Coat - Old Navy
FROM DAY TO NIGHT
1. Keeping the mandatory accessories (utility belt, breath-giving mask, gloves) and making them part of the overall silhouette, we switched out DV's work shoes for some flirty heels, added a statement necklace and found a practical but stylish coat.
2. The (vegan) leather+denim combo is both work appropriate (maybe add some panty-hose for work/warmth) and fun. DV can button that chambray collar, strip off the panty-hose and head straight to the bar with the troopers. Layer, layer, layer.
3. A shift dress in a unique fabric or pattern can be a great addition to any wardrobe. Use it for layering under or over shirts, blazers, sweaters, etc. Throw a waist-cinching belt on it, and you've got yourself one hell of an outfit thanks to that good 'ol 'third-piece' rule.
How do YOU go from day to night? Stick around for Thursday's post to see what DV wears to a winter-time movie premier. Like what you see? Share this post with others!
